THE ADULA TODAY:
Situated on the sunny terrace of Flims, the Hotel Adula is the closest accommodation to reach the famous Lake Cauma. But also the magnificent Tschingelhörner and the Martinsloch can be reached from the hotel in summer as well as in winter for skiing thanks to the extensive mountain railway network. For over 100 years, travellers from near and far have been coming to the 4-star Superior Hotel Adula in Flims-Waldhaus. The 54 spacious rooms are decorated in alpine chic and feature lots of Swiss stone pine wood. The hotel also offers a wide range of facilities: from the 1,200-square-metre wellness area, with a 20-metre pool and direct view of the Flimserstein, to the 35-degree saline pool and the fitness room with the latest training equipment. The offer is rounded off with a new vegan-vegetarian restaurant, La Clav, where vegan capuns are available for the first time. But meat and fish specialities also find their place: namely in the Barga restaurant, where the cosy room lets guests reminisce about long forgotten times. These highlights and many more combine Flims' traditional history with the modern at the Hotel Adula. The hotel is in a quiet but easily accessible location on the outskirts of the village of Flims.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN:
In 1890, the first guests travelled to what was then the Kurhaus Adula for a summer retreat. At that time, the focus was still on the warmer seasons, but demand soon changed with the construction of the first railway facilities for winter sports enthusiasts. In 1939, guests were still brought up the mountain by transport sledge, and as early as 1945, the first detachable chairlift from Flims to Foppa was opened: a pioneering achievement. With the new attractions in the destination, interest in the Hotel Adula also increased. Over the years, the main building was extended and, in addition to the Soldanella guesthouse, the wellness area was added.
THE GUESTHOUSE SOLDANELLA
Guests staying in the Soldanella guesthouse are even a little closer to Lake Cauma. The house, which was built in 1967 as an extension of the hotel, stands just 50 metres from the Hotel Adula. In the course of its construction, the offer was also expanded and several seminar and event rooms were realised on the ground floor level. The Soldanella offers guests a choice of 40 rustic rooms, which are one category below the standard of the rooms at the Hotel Adula - but all the more spacious for it. The rooms are kept in a cosy original style of the 80s. Guests staying at the Soldanella can book all the services of the Hotel Adula, such as half board and beauty treatments, and have access to the entire LA MIRA Spa & Wellness area.
